Womens 4.5 & 5.0: Battle at the Beach November 1 - 3, 2024

Welcome to the Inaugural Battle at the Beach, a weekend in Long Beach, WA of competitive and enjoyable pickleball play! We've observed a remarkable number of skilled women aged 60 and above, with a rating of 4.5 and higher, participating in pickleball. However, there's been a scarcity of tournaments that adequately cater to this demographic without needing to combine age groups or skill levels. That's why we've made it our mission to gather all you fantastic 60+ women pickleball players for a genuine test of skill against peers of the same age bracket.  Remember your $395 includes housing....your private king room in a 3 bedroom suite.  

Here's how it works.
First, choose your level from the options below. When you add the item to your cart and proceed to view your cart, you'll find a section labeled "ORDER SPECIAL INSTRUCTION." In that box, please provide rating, sweatshirt size & a preferred roommate. We've chosen this weekend specifically because it falls just before nationals, allowing you to bring your partner and utilize it as a practice session.   Or if you aren't going to nationals, this can be YOUR nationals.

Please make sure that you have competed in a 4.5 + WD tournament or have a rating somewhere of 4.5.   This is to ensure that the level of play is balanced and maintained above 4.5 skill level. Thank you for your cooperation.  Bracketing and format are subject to change pending the amount of people who sign up.  It will be as competitive as we can make it.  

Friday, November 1, 2024: Play will begin at 2:00 p.m. and follow a 12 team  Round Robin format. We can accommodate up to 24 women, and the breakdown is as follows (pending signups): 12 teams will be divided into two brackets of 6. The top two teams in each bracket will advance to play in the top playoff bracket "A," while the next two teams will proceed to the middle playoff bracket "B." The remaining teams two teams will compete in bracket "C." Each team will play 5 games using a 2/3 format.  All players will MAKE playoffs, it just depends on which group you land in. 

Play offs will be 2 games should commence no later than 7:00 p.m at which time we will have a fun meet and greet in the Pickleball Center Lobby.  

Saturday, November 2, 2024: We will do an individual round robin bracket and will start this bracket at 8 a.m. and should commence by Noon.  We will have a planned hike or bike (weather pending) for the afternoon 2 - 6.  Dinner at North Beach Tavern that evening.  **Cost of Dinner not included in your tournament fees. 

Sunday, November 3, 2024: We'll have scheduled Open Play from 8 - Noon, and opportunities for you to train with our PRO. The cost of open play is covered by your tournament fee, while private or group training with the Pro incurs an additional fee. His pricing is as follows: Groups of 4 or more pay just $20 per person per hour, and a "Three and Me" lesson, where Roman our Pro trains with you and three others, costs $30 per hour.  After this, you are welcome to check out and head home at your convenience.  

Travel time to the Lighthouse Oceanfront Resort is just about 2.5 hour from either Seattle or Portland.  

Housing
Each townhouse style suite has a view of the Pacific Ocean and three private bedrooms (two king beds and one queen) and a living room and kitchen.   Each athlete will have a private bedroom to themselves, but share the common space.  Please indicate in the "ORDER SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS" (in the shopping cart) if you would have a preference of rooming with certain people.  Should you wish to stay more days, please contact Stephanie:  Pickleball@lighthouseresort.net.
